The movie is loosely based on Homer's "Odyssey" and follows the adventures of three friends, Ulysses, Delmar, and Pete, as they try to reach Ulysses' home in 1930s Mississippi to recover stolen loot. Along the way, they encounter a series of unusual characters, including sirens, a cyclops, and a blind prophet, who warn them that the treasure they seek may not be what they find.
