The world has been devastated by nuclear destruction, with Australia being the only survivor. A wave of radiation is approaching, and only two months are left before it reaches the country. An American submarine arrives, and its captain is tasked with determining whether a scientist's calculations are correct, which predict a doomsday scenario, or if a rival scientist's theory is accurate, which suggests that 1000 people can be relocated to the northern hemisphere where radiation levels may be lower. Along the way, the captain and his crew encounter the devastation in Alaska and California, and personal relationships are tested as they navigate their mission.
