Naive Sherrie Christian arrives in Hollywood in 1987 with dreams of becoming a rock star. She meets Drew Boley, a veteran of the music scene, who helps her get a job at the Bourbon Club, a famous rock venue. Despite the club's owner, Dennis Dupree, not wanting to hire aspiring musicians, Drew convinces him to hire Sherrie. As they work together, they develop a romantic connection. The club is facing financial struggles and is trying to book a benefit concert with rock star Stacee Jaxx, who is rumored to be leaving his band Arsenal to go solo. Meanwhile, the club is threatened by a Christian fundamentalist campaign led by Mayor Mike Whitmore's wife, Patricia, who is determined to shut it down.
