Two drifters, Chris Foster and Bert Pickett, get into trouble in Adonde, a border town, after a drunken Bert starts a brawl at a card game and punches the sheriff. Arrested, they're chained to a post in the town square alongside a drunk and a notorious outlaw, Lavalle, who's determined to escape.
