In 1873, Indian Territory, Talbot Roe's grief over losing his Indian wife, Awbonnie, drives him to madness. His father, Prescott, tries to rescue him by acquiring Awbonnie's sister, Velada, from a traveling carnival. However, the plan backfires, and Prescott kidnaps Velada instead.
