In 1868, a wagon train is attacked by Lakota Sioux led by Tokalah, who spares the lives of Anna Brewster-Morgan and her friend Sarah White. Despite initially being terrified, Anna falls in love with Tokalah, who has noble and honorable values. After a year, Sarah is returned to her people, leaving Anna to choose between her new life with Tokalah and her previous marriage to Daniel Morgan.
