Storm at Daybreak

The movie takes place on a fateful June day in 1914, as Serbian Mayor Dushan returns to Sarajevo to witness the Archduke Ferdinand's parade, reuniting with his old friend Geza, a Hungarian Army officer, and inviting him to visit his home.

In the midst of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, tensions between the Serbs and Hungarians escalate after the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand. A Serbian mayor, Dushan, navigates the treacherous landscape as he tries to keep his town loyal to Austro-Hungary while protecting his people from the suspicious Hungarian army. His wife, Irina, secretly sides with the Serbs, hiding deserters in their barn. As Geza, a Hungarian soldier, searches their home, Dushan's wife uses her charms to distract him while the deserters escape. Despite initial animosity, Geza and Irina develop feelings for each other, and the city eventually falls under Serbian control, leading to a complex web of loyalties and relationships.
