Joe Morgan, a penniless newcomer, finds work with Frank Leonard, impresario of a successful ice skating show starring his wife Roberta Elva. As Joe rises through the ranks, he becomes attracted to Roberta, who initially resists but eventually yields. However, their affair is complicated by Frank's suspicions and Joe's shady past, including an obsessive ex-girlfriend, Ronnie, from Chicago.
