In the movie, Sergeant Major Zak Carey is serving his final tour of duty at an Army base in Georgia. Feeling dissatisfied with the base's conditions, he ventures off-base to get a beer, where he encounters a local prostitute. After rejecting her advances, Zak intervenes when her pimp, the deputy, beats her. The Sheriff, revealed to be corrupt, perceives this as an attack on him and attempts to arrest Zak, but the Army supports him. When Zak's son is falsely accused of drug charges and imprisoned, Zak's wife tries to secure legal representation, only for the Sheriff to send their son to a prison farm. With no other options, Zak commandeers his vintage Sherman Tank and breaks his son out, aiming to expose the Sheriff by reaching the state line.
