In ancient Greece, 490 BC, the Sacred Guard commander Philippides must defend Athens against the invading Persian army led by King Darius. As he prepares for battle, he is courted by a servant girl named Charis, who hopes to distract him from his duty. Meanwhile, Philippides' heart belongs to a young woman named Andromeda. When the Persians attack, Philippides and his troops hold out against overwhelming odds, waiting for the arrival of a Spartan relief force. In the end, the Greeks emerge victorious, thanks in part to Philippides' bravery and the unconventional tactics of the Sacred Guard.
