Matt Cunningham, a 13-year-old tech enthusiast, is forced to leave his laptop behind on a Kenyan safari with his mother. He befriends a local boy, Jomo, and together they bond with a baby orphaned elephant named Ellie. When they discover Ellie is being sold to a ruthless American businessman, they decide to release her and embark on a thrilling adventure to find a wild elephant herd. Along the way, they face danger, encounter wild animals, and even get imprisoned in a village jail. Eventually, they find Harlo, the businessman, injured and decide to help him, leading to a heartwarming conclusion where Ellie is reunited with her natural herd.
