A former lawman, Steve Burden, is released from duty after bringing in too many wanted men, most of whom were killed. Now, the aging Sheriff of El Solito offers Steve a job as his Deputy, which Steve accepts, unaware that the last outlaw he killed was framed in the town. As Steve searches for the man responsible, he becomes convinced that Rice Martin, the town's controller, is behind the framing and sets out to confront him, only to find himself in grave danger when Martin sends a hitman to take him out.
