Private investigator Richard Driver is hired by Biggs to investigate mysterious deaths in wealthy families at the Underwood Asylum. Driver sends his assistant, Maybelline, undercover as his cousin, and tries to get Inspector Clarke to investigate a supposed narcoleptic case. However, they must navigate the hypnotized Biggs twins and Danny, who can be kept catatonic with a machine, while avoiding Inspector Clarke's skepticism and uncover the truth behind the asylum's sinister activities.
