Evelyn Carnahan, an English librarian, becomes obsessed with excavating the ancient city of Hamunaptra, enlisting the help of Rick O'Connell after saving him from certain death. Unbeknownst to Evelyn, her brother Jonathan, and Rick, another group of treasure hunters is also seeking the same dig. Their reckless endeavors inadvertently awaken the cursed High Priest Imhotep, unleashing a malevolent force that cannot be defeated by conventional means.
