Two lonely teachers, a man and a woman, are assigned to the same rural school, but a year apart. The woman, initially assigned to the school, writes about her struggles in a diary. When she is transferred to another school, she leaves the diary behind. A substitute teacher, a man, finds the diary and begins writing his own thoughts. When the woman returns to the school, she discovers the added entries and falls in love with the unknown writer. She sets out to find him, but their paths have yet to cross.
