The Witch's Daughter background

The Witch's Daughter

On a remote Scottish island, a mother and her 12-year-old daughter must fight to survive against the backdrop of dark superstitions and whispers of witchcraft that threaten to engulf their existence.

A young woman, Zelda, and her 12-year-old daughter, Perdita, live on a small Scottish island. After Zelda's husband goes missing at sea, she believes he's never coming back and takes her own life. When lobsters disappear, the islanders blame Zelda, thinking she's cursed the sea for her husband's death. As a result, Perdita is ostracized, shunned from school and ridiculed by her peers, branded as "the witch's daughter."
