In the sun-kissed California town of Claremont, a group of young adults engage in reckless behavior, flaunting guns and flaunting their carefree attitude. Johnny Truelove, a drug dealer and son of a notorious underworld figure, takes umbrage when Jake Mazursky, an unstable individual, fails to repay a debt. In a fit of rage, Johnny and his friends kidnap Jake's 15-year-old brother Zach, who initially sees the situation as a temporary inconvenience. As the days pass, Zach forms an unlikely bond with his captors, particularly Frankie, who becomes his de facto guardian. However, as the group's actions become increasingly reckless, Zach's fate hangs precariously in the balance, threatened by the dangers of groupthink, moral decay, and the looming specter of imprisonment.
