Anna and the King background

Anna and the King

The King and I, a classic musical drama, tells the story of a British schoolteacher who embarks on a journey to 19th century Siam, now Thailand, to educate the king's many children.

In 1860s Siam, Anna Leonowens, an English schoolteacher, arrives to educate the children of King Mongkut. She becomes embroiled in his personal struggles, including the fate of a young concubine, while also attempting to forge a British alliance and navigating a war with Burma orchestrated by Britain. Amidst these challenges, a subtle romance blossoms between Anna and the king.
