In 1860s Siam, Anna Leonowens, an English schoolteacher, arrives to educate the children of King Mongkut. She becomes embroiled in his personal struggles, including the fate of a young concubine, while also attempting to forge a British alliance and navigating a war with Burma orchestrated by Britain.
