The Doctor, reborn, arrives in modern-day London, where Rose is thrilled to be home. Her mother, Jackie, is overjoyed to see her, despite initial protests. However, the Doctor falls ill, overwhelmed by an excess of energy. As he lies comatose, the Sycorax threaten to destroy one-third of the planet's population unless they surrender. The Prime Minister, with the Doctor MIA, turns to Torchwood for help, but it arrives too late. Fortunately, Jackie holds the key to saving the Doctor, and potentially the world.
