Adam Garcia is a talented Australian actor and tap dancer of Colombian descent, whose father hails from Colombia. He left university to take on the role of Slide in the musical production of Hot Shoe Shuffle, which toured Australia before transferring to London, England. Garcia's stint in London led him to act in various West End musicals.
Garcia's notable performances include playing Doody in the West End's version of Grease and Tony Manero in the stage adaptation of Saturday Night Fever, for which he received an Olivier Award nomination. His cover version of the Bee Gees song "Night Fever" reached number 15 on the UK singles chart in 1998.
In 2000, Garcia performed a solo tap dance in the Sydney Olympic Opening Ceremony. His transition to film acting began in 1997, when he played Jones in Wilde, a movie about the life of writer Oscar Wilde. He went on to act in movies such as Coyote Ugly, Bootmen, Riding In Cars With Boys, and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen.
Garcia's television credits include appearing as government official Alex Klein in the 2005 Christmas special of the British science fiction series Doctor Who. He also worked with Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth in the 2002 workshop edition of the musical Wicked, playing the role of Fiyero. The show later opened in London, where Garcia reprised his role.
In the latter part of 2008, Garcia appeared in two ITV dramas, Britannia High and Mr Eleven. He also appeared as a judge on the reality show Got To Dance for four seasons and on Australia's Dancing With The Stars for two seasons.
Garcia made a guest appearance on the TV show House and starred in the London West End production of Tap Dogs in 2010. He received another Olivier nomination for his performance in Trevor Nunn's revival of Kiss Me Kate at the Old Vic in 2012.
In 2016, Garcia created the role of Father Damien Karras for Birmingham Repertory Theatre's production of The Exorcist. Throughout his career, Garcia has been nominated for multiple awards and has continued to showcase his talents in various stage and screen productions.
