Maurice Cole, a schoolboy from 1960s Liverpool, was bullied for being effeminate. Despite this, he created comedy tapes, which caught the attention of agent Wilfred De'ath. He changed his name to Kenny Everett and landed a job on a pirate radio station. His popularity led to a job on BBC Radio One.
