Hollywood Canine Canteen background

Hollywood Canine Canteen

A group of celebrity dogs, led by a canine reminiscent of Edward G. Robinson, join forces with Jimmy Durante to create a dog-only nightclub, inspired by the classic film Hollywood Steps Out (1941),but with a fresh canine twist.

Celebrity dogs, led by a dog resembling Edward G. Robinson, decide to open their own nightclub. The film parodies Hollywood Steps Out, featuring canine versions of famous stars. Gags include a sandwich made of bones by Dogwood and Blondie, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy washing and re-washing dishes, and a sheepdog with hair in his eyes gaining perfect vision when a pretty girl walks by. Other notable scenes feature Leopold Bowowsky conducting an orchestra, a tuba player missing his cue due to a fly, and Bing Crosby losing a girl to Frank Sinatra. The film concludes with a soldier finally getting to use a megaphone with the name "Massachusetts" on it.
