Ice-Capades background

Ice-Capades

A charismatic newsreel cameraman is dispatched to cover a renowned Swiss figure skater's exhibition at Lake Placid, only to arrive late and miss the opportunity to capture the most critical moments.

In this film, a womanizing newsreel cameraman, Bob Clemens, is assigned to cover a Swiss ice skater, Karen Vadja, but misses his plane and instead films a random skater in Central Park, Marie Bergin, who is actually an overstayed visa holder. The promoter, Larry Herman, sees the newsreel and signs Marie to star in an ice show called "Ice-Capades". However, Bob is dismayed when he learns he's obligated to build a show around Marie, a talented but eccentric skater. He tries to back out, but his boss suggests they find Marie and pass her off as a discovery. As they evade Marie, who thinks they're immigration agents, Bob finds himself falling for her and becomes the prime candidate to marry her and save her from deportation.
