In the town of Bakersfield, a witch-hunt for pedophilia is sparked by false claims made by two teenage girls. The prosecution and law enforcement officials, driven by ambition, conspire to arrest and wrongly convict loving parents Scott and Brenda Kniffen. The parents' sons, Brian and Brandon, are subjected to relentless questioning and eventually believe the fabricated lies, leading to a cycle of trauma as they are passed from foster home to foster home. Despite being denied custody by their grandparents, the parents are imprisoned for 12 years, with the boys reaching adulthood before the truth finally comes to light.
