Charlene was born in 1960 on a large farm in the heart of Saskatchewan, Canada, a vast and fertile land that would later shape her artistic endeavors. She went on to study Journalism at the esteemed British Columbia Institute of Technology, a renowned institution that fostered her passion for storytelling. However, it was in 1990, while she was pursuing her passion for regional theater in Portland, Oregon, that her career took a dramatic turn. A manager from Los Angeles took notice of her talent, and soon she found herself as a guest on the Showtime series "Kurt Vonnegut's Monkey House," which would go on to win a Cable Ace Award.
This success was followed by a series regular role on the popular series "Street Justice," shot in Vancouver, Canada, and later, another series in Toronto, "The Mighty Jungle." Her impressive work on these shows demonstrated her versatility and range as an actress. In 1994, she received a nomination for a Genie Award for Best Actress for her role in the film "Harmony Cats," the Canadian equivalent of the prestigious Academy Award.
In 1995, she won a Canadian Film Award, The Blizzard, for Best Supporting Actress for her work in the film "Paris or Somewhere." Her performance as the 800-year-old, zany Aunt Zelda in the 1996 Disney movie "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" further solidified her status as a talented actress. After taking a hiatus to focus on her family and other personal and charity endeavors, she returned to film in 2004 with roles in "Murder on the Yellow Brick Road" and "Seeking Fear," for which she won Best Actress at the NY Independent Film and Video Festival.
Most recently, Charlene has directed and co-produced 13 episodes of the children's safety show "Keyeye." The show, which is still in editing, has already received recognition from UNICEF for its outstanding contribution to protecting children.
