In feudal Japan, a merciless samurai named Shinzaemon commits a heinous crime by killing a moneylender named Soetsu and dumping his body into the Kasenega-Fuchi river.

In ancient Japan, a wealthy moneylender named Soetsu was brutally murdered by the ruthless samurai Shinzaemon, whose body was discarded in the treacherous Kasenega-Fuchi river. Legend has it that anyone who drowns in the river is forever trapped, unable to resurface. Two decades later, Shinzaemon's son Shinkichi encounters Soetsu's daughter Toyoshiga, and they fall deeply in love. However, their romance is doomed, as Soetsu's vengeful spirit refuses to rest.
