London-based Dr. Sanjay Banerjee returns home to find his wife, Manju, passed out and later declared dead. He's consoled by his friend, Alok, and notified his three daughters about the death. As he prepares for the funeral, he reminisces about his life with Manju and the devastation his family faced during partition. He meets each of his daughters, learning about their struggles, including Lolita's marital problems, Tuli's lesbian relationship, and Dia's pregnancy and love affair with a Muslim man, Imtiaz.
