A gay couple, Josh and Paul, try to adopt a child, Nickie, after Paul's friend Susan passes away. However, Susan's mother opposes their adoption due to their sexual orientation. As they await the final court date, Josh inadvertently witnesses a Mob hit while buying milk. Despite being in danger, Josh keeps the incident a secret and takes Paul on a weekend getaway to avoid confronting the situation. However, when they return to the city, the hitmen are waiting, and the Mob boss orders their execution. With Paul unaware of the danger and Josh being passive, the couple must find a way to protect themselves and Nickie from the powerful Mob.
