Doug is a multi-talented filmmaker who has written, directed, and edited several award-winning films, including the BearCity trilogy and Raising Heroes.
The BearCity trilogy, which consists of BearCity (2010),BearCity 2: The Proposal (2012),and BearCity 3 (2016),has been a huge success, garnering numerous awards and accolades at film festivals around the world. The trilogy has won several Best Picture awards and has also earned Doug a Grand Jury Award for Best Screenplay at the prestigious Los Angeles film festival, Outfest.
In addition to his work on the BearCity trilogy, Doug also wrote, produced, directed, and edited Raising Heroes (1996),which is considered the first gay action film. The film, which was praised by the influential online 'zine Film Threat as "a non-stop speeding bullet of a picture," has played at numerous film festivals, including Outfest, Frameline (San Francisco),and the Edinburgh Film Festival.
Doug has also made appearances in other films, including Malcolm Ingram's documentary Bear Nation (2010),in which he appears as himself, and Ingram's documentary Out to Win (2015),which he produced.
The BearCity trilogy and Raising Heroes have been released theatrically to rave reviews and sell-out crowds, with tremendous support from built-in audiences.
In his personal life, Doug resides in Hell's Kitchen, NYC, and Wilton Manors, Florida, with his husband, Joseph Chapman.
