Chris Cole, a music enthusiast, dreams of becoming a rock star. His girlfriend Emily believes he has the talent to make it big, but Chris is obsessed with Bobby Beers, the lead singer of the legendary heavy metal band Steel Dragon. Despite his mundane day job, Chris shines on stage, fronting a Steel Dragon tribute band and captivating audiences with his uncanny imitation of Beers' vocals. However, his bandmates eventually kick him out, leaving Chris heartbroken.
