Biography

Myles Kennedy is a multifaceted American musician, singer, and songwriter who has garnered widespread recognition for his impressive work as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the highly acclaimed rock band Alter Bridge. In addition to his prominent role within Alter Bridge, Kennedy is also notable for his position as the lead vocalist in guitarist Slash's backing band, Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators.

Born in the culturally rich and historic city of Boston, Massachusetts, Kennedy's early life was marked by a sense of adventure and a desire to explore the world around him. As a young person, he found himself drawn to the picturesque regions of Northern Idaho and Spokane, where he would go on to spend a significant portion of his formative years.

Kennedy's passion for music was evident from an early age, and he decided to pursue it with dedication and perseverance. He enrolled in Spokane Falls Community College to study music theory, laying the foundation for a lifelong career in the industry.

In 1990, Kennedy's music career took off as the lead guitarist of the instrumental jazz ensemble Cosmic Dust. Over the course of his time with the group, he released one studio album, showcasing his impressive skills and versatility as a musician.

As his career continued to evolve, Kennedy went on to form the band Citizen Swing, with which he released two studio albums. Although the group eventually disbanded in 1996, Kennedy's experience and expertise only continued to grow.

In 1996, Kennedy co-founded the rock band The Mayfield Four with fellow Citizen Swing member Craig Johnson. As the lead vocalist and guitarist, he brought his unique sound and style to the group, releasing two studio albums over the course of their existence. Despite their eventual breakup in 2002, Kennedy's time with The Mayfield Four remains an important chapter in his musical journey.

Myles Kennedy's professional journey took an unexpected turn following the rejection of his offer to audition as the lead vocalist of the iconic rock band Velvet Revolver. This setback ultimately led to a life-changing opportunity when Mark Tremonti, renowned guitarist and vocalist, extended an invitation to Kennedy to join Alter Bridge in the late year of 2003. After formally joining the band in 2004, Kennedy has since become an indispensable component of the group, actively participating in the creation and release of five studio albums.

During Alter Bridge's extensive touring schedule in 2008, Kennedy had the privilege of collaborating with former members of the legendary rock band Led Zeppelin on a top-secret project. Although this endeavor did not ultimately materialize into a fully-fledged band, the songs Kennedy co-wrote with Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and Jason Bonham remain unreleased, a testament to the creative potential that was fostered during this unique and exclusive collaboration.

Myles Kennedy's professional journey continued to flourish as he collaborated with the renowned guitarist Slash, making a notable guest appearance on Slash's self-titled solo album in 2010, lending his vocal talents to two standout tracks. Subsequently, Kennedy took on the role of vocalist for Slash's live tours, solidifying his musical partnership with the iconic guitarist.

In the years that followed, Kennedy's musical endeavors with Slash culminated in the creation of two studio albums with the collective entity known as Slash, Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. Meanwhile, Kennedy's solo career gained momentum with the release of his debut album, Year of the Tiger, which hit the music scene in March 2018, marking a significant milestone in his musical journey.
