Vijay Chatterjee, a freedom fighter's son, fled British India's Hindu-Muslim riots in the late 1940s, first settling in Britain and then Toronto, Canada. He opened a restaurant with his family, but it was attacked by White Supremacists. After his wife's passing, Vijay met Maarya, a young florist who became a cook at his restaurant and eventually his son Ashish's wife. However, their lives took a dark turn when Ashish's male friend Michel became intimate with Maarya, and she became pregnant, revealing a potentially troubled character.
