Sharon Austin, a determined actress, arrives in New York seeking a break in legitimate theater. She refuses to compromise her values and integrity, instead finding support in a sincere relationship. However, she's unexpectedly abducted and subjected to psychological and physical torture, forced into posing for pornographic pictures and compromising her sexuality. Eventually, she agrees to these demands, and nude pictures of her appear in bookstalls. She begins sleeping with influential men in the theater business, but her genuine talents are noticed by a prominent director. Auditioning for a new play, Sharon gains insight into rejecting the life forced on her and finds a new chance at success while staying true to herself.
