Unbeknownst to Joyce, her ex-husband, Walter Ferris, is a wanted criminal, and detectives are tracking him down. Despite this, Fred and Joyce get married and plan a honeymoon in Tennessee. However, their happiness is short-lived as Ferris breaks into their home, accompanied by Peggy Athens, and kills a detective who arrives on the scene.
