Byrdie Langdon, a scriptwriter who was once nominated for an Oscar, feels underappreciated and rejected by studios due to her age and the age of her characters. She enlists the help of her brother's son, Jason "Krueger" Langdon, to sell her work under a pseudonym after a "Kramer vs. Kramer" inspired script was almost accepted. However, Jason's own ambition and romantic feelings for a studio executive, who Byrdie hoped to impress, threaten to compromise her plan.
