Idol duo Zwei Wing, Tsubasa and Kanade, harness their songs to fuel ancient weapons called Symphogears, battling alien Noise. When Kanade sacrifices herself to save a young girl, Hibiki, Tsubasa is heartbroken, but a fragment of Kanade's Symphogear is embedded in Hibiki. Two years later, Hibiki awakens Kanade's Symphogear while rescuing another girl, and must now join forces with Tsubasa to defend humanity against the Noise.
