Five and Ten

A Kansas City transplant navigates the challenges of a new life in New York, only to find herself entangled in a tumultuous romance with a man who is already committed to another.

John Rarick, the third wealthiest merchant in the world, moves his family from Kansas City to New York City in pursuit of more wealth. However, his relentless pursuit of money leads him to neglect his family, causing his wife Jenny to feel lonely and seek comfort in an affair. Their daughter Jennifer struggles to fit in with the old money social class due to their nouveau riche status, and she tries to buy her way into their circle. Meanwhile, their son Avery works in the family business, resenting his father's neglect and the family's wealth, and turns to drinking to cope. As the family's dynamics unravel, the question remains whether they can find happiness individually or as a family.
