In October 2019, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, UK, hundreds of Portuguese migrant workers flood into town, seeking jobs at local turkey factories. The town, once a favorite holiday spot, is now a shadow of its former self, with high unemployment rates. The factories take advantage of decaying hotels on the beachfront to house the seasonal workers. Tânia, a former poultry plant worker, now married to an English hotel owner, is the perfect facilitator for the Portuguese workers. However, she dreams of becoming a British citizen and leaving the poultry industry behind by transforming her husband's hotels into senior citizens' homes. The arrival of her latest group of immigrants for Christmas season sets off a series of events that disrupts her volatile life.
