Marco Martins, a Portuguese film director of considerable talent and repute, came into the world in the year 1972, specifically in the vibrant city of Lisbon, Portugal. Notably, the film was also included on the long list for the esteemed Academy Awards Foreign Language Film prize, a testament to its exceptional quality and artistic merit.
Martins' short film, a cinematic masterpiece, found itself in the esteemed company of other talented filmmakers when it was selected as a contender at the prestigious "Corto Cortissimo" competition, held during the 63rd Venice International Film Festival, a renowned event that showcases the best of 35mm short films from around the world, attracting a diverse array of international audiences and industry professionals alike.
Martins' cinematic endeavors continued to flourish in 2009, as he successfully brought his second film, a thought-provoking and visually stunning masterpiece titled "How to Draw a Perfect Circle", to the big screen.
Fast-forward to 2016, Martins once again showcased his remarkable directorial prowess, helming the critically acclaimed film "São Jorge", a testament to his growing reputation as a master of his craft.
