At Anytown, USA High School, students face a series of setbacks: a struggling football team, a school paper on the verge of suspension, and a principal who plans to replace student performers with professionals. However, with a spirited team of students, including Freddie Stewart, June Preisser, and Anne Rooney, the tide turns, and the team wins, the paper's circulation increases, and everyone comes together to perform with the Freddie Slack and Jan Savitt orchestras.
