Kakushi ken: Oni no tsume background

Kakushi ken: Oni no tsume

A 19th Century Japanese samurai struggles to restore his honor, tarnished by his father's error, while navigating complex emotions with a former maid and a trusted ally.

In the mid-19th Century, a samurai named Munezo leaves his clan's fiefdom to take a position in Edo, while his friend Yaichiro is sent home in disgrace after a failed political intrigue. Munezo's sister marries Samon, and his mother dies, leading him to learn Western warfare methods. He falls in love with Kie, a maid, but their social differences make marriage impossible. Munezo is ordered to kill Yaichiro, who has taken hostages, and seeks help from his old teacher, sword master Kansai Toda, who taught him the "Hidden Blade" technique.
