Mirch Masala background

Mirch Masala

A ruthless tax collector and his brutal soldiers terrorize defenseless villages in colonial India, extracting not only taxes but also inflicting a devastating toll on the innocent population.

In colonial India, a beautiful and confident woman named Sonbai faces harassment from a ruthless subedar and his soldiers, who demand more than taxes from the villagers. When the subedar attempts to assault her, she flees to a spice factory, where she finds refuge with the aged guard, Abu Mian. As tensions escalate, a group of women, including the mayor's wife, and a teacher inspired by Gandhi's philosophy, join forces to challenge the village's complicity in the subedar's abuse.
