Romy and Michele graduate from high school in 1987 and three years later, they finally make their way to Los Angeles with the dream of becoming rich and famous. Despite having only saved $68, they decide to take the plunge after being inspired by the movie "Pretty Woman". However, their plans take an unexpected turn as they attempt to become prostitutes, only to back out after their first encounter. A subsequent run-in with the law leads to their arrest after a man lends them a dollar for a vending machine.
