A grief-stricken man discovers a machine that can transport him to a parallel world where his deceased loved one is still alive. However, he soon learns that this world operates under different rules and struggles to return to his own reality. The machine is destroyed, and the inventor is killed. The man then teams up with a woman from his world who has built her own machine, but officials are skeptical of her claims, thinking she's delusional. Together, they attempt to find a way back home.
