Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy take in a homeless teenage African-American, Michael Oher, who has no idea who his father is and a mother struggling with addiction. Despite his limited education and skills, Leigh Anne takes charge, ensuring Michael has every opportunity to succeed. She helps him develop an interest in football and even advises the coach on how to utilize his skills. The Tuohys not only provide a loving home but also hire a tutor to help Michael improve his grades, ultimately securing an NCAA Division I athletic scholarship. Michael Oher goes on to become the first-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in the 2009 NFL draft.
