Joan Larkin, a teenager from the San Fernando Valley, transforms into Joan Jett, a guitarist determined to create an all-girl punk band. She partners with a drummer and then searches for a lead singer, ultimately finding 15-year-old Cherie Currie, who becomes the perfect image for their manager's purposes.
