Hercule Poirot appears on a TV talk show with actor Bryan Martin, who's making an action detective movie with Jane Wilkinson. Poirot meets impressionist Carlotta Adams and they all attend a party where Jane asks him and Captain Hastings to meet her husband, Lord Edgware, about a divorce. They discover the Lord had already granted her divorce, but Jane hints she could have killed him if he didn't. The next day, Lord Edgware is found dead, with staff claiming Jane did it, while witnesses at another party say she was with them. Carlotta then dies, and Poirot must investigate, as Inspector Japp is determined to put Jane away.
