Wealthy businessman Harishchandra raises his two sons, Sunil and Prem, after his wife's passing. He marries off Sunil to Bhavna and lets Prem complete his education, even studying abroad. When Sunil and Bhavna have a son, Rahul, Harishchandra arranges a marriage for Prem with Poonam, the niece of a fruit merchant. The two families meet, and Prem and Poonam approve of each other. An engagement follows, and preparations begin for the wedding.
