In Afghanistan, a soldier named Matt receives a special care package from a fellow soldier, containing home-roasted coffee sent by his sister Audrey as a Christmas gift. This sparks a pen pal relationship between Matt and Audrey, who eventually runs a coffee shop with her friend Jade. When Matt is stationed near Audrey's coffee shop a year later, he walks in unannounced, only to discover that she never received his last letter. Meanwhile, Audrey decides to organize a community event, The Holiday for Heroes, after the city cancels it.
