Wladyslaw Szpilman, a Polish Jewish radio pianist, witnesses Warsaw's transformation as World War II begins. Forced into the Warsaw Ghetto, he's eventually separated from his family during Operation Reinhard. Until the concentration camp prisoners are freed, Szpilman hides in the city's ruins.
